🧭 About the App

GFM Manager is a smart academic tool built for colleges, teachers (GFM - Guardian Faculty Members), and administrators. It transforms how student data is managed by automating recordkeeping, enhancing communication, and making call tracking simple yet effective.

🚀 The Vision Behind GFM Manager

We started with a simple question: Why is student data management still handled using outdated methods when we live in a digital-first world? Many faculty members struggle with tracking attendance, managing student records, and staying in touch with parents effectively. We noticed that: Attendance was tracked on paper or static spreadsheets. Teachers had no fast way to log call histories or send messages to guardians. Students’ academic interactions lacked transparency and feedback loops. So, we envisioned GFM Manager — a system where a GFM could manage their division completely using just a mobile app. From call logs, SMS communication, attendance reports, notes, images, to real-time Firebase-based data sync, our app brings it all together — securely, efficiently, and with minimal effort.

🧑‍💻 Our Development Story

Platform: Built natively for Android. Tech Stack: Java, Firebase Firestore + Realtime Database, Room DB, SQLite, SharedPreferences, PDF generation, Image Compression (WebP). Research: We studied actual workflows of GFMs and admin departments from multiple colleges to build a system that mirrors their actual needs. Performance Optimization: We worked extensively to make it run on low-end phones — keeping RAM under 256 MB even during peak usage.

🔐 Privacy-Focused

We never store sensitive data beyond Firebase. Phone permissions are asked only with purpose and shown in context. We also guide users to enable Assistant Handler mode if needed, to comply with Google’s Call Log policy — without affecting the default dialer experience.
